I can’t quite put my finger on what made The Next Web Conference so magical this year.
It might have been the atmosphere of the city of Amsterdam, which surprised us with great weather when we expected it to rain all week. Or maybe it was the smell of marijuana that escaped from every little coffee shop or the relaxed networking area at the hotel lobby. Then again, it could have just been the fact that I came to the conference without an agenda.
I just went there as a ‘Conduiter’ who really didn’t have any intention to sell, invest, or buy anything. My only purpose was to take in all the new apps, technologies, and people who worked for months to launch their new products, prepare their pitch, and/or hack away.
Attending the conference without an agenda allowed me to objectively experience TNW’s story and get a bird’s eye view of everything that was going on. It also enabled me to fasten my grip on Twitter hashtag #TNW2012 and witness how the story of TNW was crowdsourced on Twitter.
